Space. Time. Civilization. STC-2023

International scientific conference

Space. Time. Civilization

November 3rd–8th, 2023
Cairo, Egypt

In 2023 Bauman Moscow State Technical University together with Russian Academy of Science and BITS-Pilani University for the first time will organize the International scientific conference "Space. Time. Civilization. STC-2023", which will be held in Egypt from 3 to 8 November. The conference will focus on the theory and experiment in the field of gravitation, the study of the properties of astrophysical objects and large-scale structures of the Universe, and the relationship between the development of natural sciences and sustainable Civilization development. The STC-2023 Conference is a logical extension of the Finsler Extensions of Relativity Theory (FERT) international forums (, as well as the Physical Interpretations of Relativity Theory (PIRT) international scientific conferences (

Three concurrent sections are planned for the conference:

· Space and Time.

· Civilization Issues.

· The Origins of Civilization.

Between July 3rd and July 6th, 2023, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University held the 23rd International Scientific Conference on Modern Problems of the Relativity Theory, Cosmology and Astrophysics, known as "Physical Interpretations of the Relativity Theory: PIRT-2023".

The PIRT conference is an international scientific event originating in 1988, first held biennially at Imperial College London and later, since 2003, at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The Chairman of the International Organizing Committee is Mikhail Gordin, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, while the Co-Chairman is Professor Vladimir Gladyshev, Head of Scientific Educational Complex of Fundamental Sciences. The Chairman of the International Academic Committee is Alexey Starobinsky, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The 23rd PIRT conference primarily aimed to discuss the following topics: modern generalizations of the relativity theory and its observed consequences; experimental verification of the relativity theory; methods for gravitational wave recording; effects of relativistic electrodynamics and optics in moving media; astrophysical observations and space-based experiments.

The conference program focused on the latest achievements in the theory of gravity, cosmology and astrophysics, which attracted over 150 researchers from 27 countries. Over 60 participants from 5 countries gave their presentations in the conference hall of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University; other participants and listeners attended the conference remotely via Zoom. An extensive cultural program was arranged for the conference attendees.

The Opening of the PIRT-2023 conference

July 3, 2023, Bauman Moscow State Technical University hosted the opening ceremony of the XXIII International Conference "Physical Interpretations of the Relativity Theory PIRT-2023". In a moment in which distance learning is more important than ever, the PIRT-2023 conference held in the Conference-Hall of Educational and Laboratory Building is providing an opportunity for all participants to share and present their contributions by means of modern multimedia technology, which allows presentations to be given both distantly and in person.

The PIRT-2023 program is dedicated to the latest advances in the theory of gravity, cosmology, astrophysics; more than 150 researchers from 23 countries plan to take part in the conference.

In parallel with the conference, the IV Summer Youth School "Gravity, Cosmology and Astrophysics ISGCA - 2023" started.

In order to encourage research in mathematics and physics, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University held competitions for the best scientific papers in mathematics and physics among those published in 2022.

After much deliberation, the top rankings in the physics paper competition were awarded to the following employees of the FN-4 department:

1st place

In order to encourage research work in mathematics, the Department of Fundamental Sciences held its annual competition for the best papers in mathematics and physics among those published in 2021 by the staff of Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

After much deliberation, the winner and top rankings for the papers in mathematics were determined as follows:

1st place for the best 2022 scientific publication in mathematics is awarded to Chetverikov Vladimir Nikolaevich, D. Sc. (Phys. Math.), Professor of the FN-12 Department

The remaining top rankings in the 2022 competition for the best scientific publication in mathematics include:

2nd place

Gordeev Eduard Nikolaevich, D. Sc. (Phys. Math.), Professor of the IU-8 Department

3rd place

Fetisov Dmitriy Anatolyevich, D. Sc. (Phys. Math.), Professor of the FN-12 Department

Congratulations to the winners!

The Faculty of Fundamental Sciences, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, is arranging the 4th Summer International School on Gravity, Cosmology and Astrophysics for students, post-graduates and young scientists. The School will be held in the Educational and Laboratory Building of Bauman Moscow State Technical University on July 3-7, 2023.

The main goals of the School are to discuss modern accomplishments in studying the Universe, tackle the main problems, share ideas and methods of research in the theory of gravity and cosmology. The School will become an event where prominent researchers from different countries will get together to present their projects and share their knowledge on gravity, cosmology and astrophysics.

Each ISGCA-2023 participant will receive an international certificate.

Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo

This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky, the founder of aerodynamics. In this regard, the BMSTU delegation visited the Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo, a village in the Vladimir Region.

Nikolay Yegorovich cherished the memory of his manor and the School. He received home education and at the age of 11 left for Moscow to get further education. Being a high school student and then a student, every holiday he came back to Orekhovo. During his half-a-century work at the Imperial Technical School, every year Nikolay Zhukovsky wrote an application to the rector with the following words: “I ask you to grant me a leave because I am leaving for Orekhovo.”

Many years have passed but the Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo is still closely related to Bauman Moscow State Technical University, especially to the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, which bears the name of Nikolay Zhukovsky. The Manor often hosts students of this department and arranges excursions.

On July 4 - 9, 2022, 3rd Summer International School on Gravity, Cosmology and Astrophysics (ISGCA-2022), dedicated to the memory of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I. Pustovoyt, was held at Bauman Moscow State Technical University at the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences.

More than 260 students and young scientists from 21 countries (Benin, China, Bangaldesh, Greece, Denmark, Egypt, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia, Syria, Tajikistan, Croatia, Ecuador, Eritrea) submitted their applications to participate in the School.  ISGCA-2022 welcomed both in-person and virtual participants, on the 8th floor of the BMSTU Laboratory Building and in Zoom. All lectures and reports were simultaneously interpreted. More than 30 students from Bauman University and other leading Russian universities came to take part in the School. Each participant of the School received an international certificate.
