Opening of the 5th "Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics: ISGCA-2024" International Youth Scientific School

July 1st marked the day when the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences (FN) hosted the opening of the 5th "Gravitation, Cosmology and Astrophysics: ISGCA-2024" International Youth Scientific School in the Educational and Laboratory Building of BMSTU. The School is jointly organized by the FN Faculty, the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Gravitational Society, having taken place annually since 2019. ISGCA-2024 is dedicated to the memory of Alexei Aleksandrovich Starobinsky, President of the Russian Gravitational Society, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the School (2021-2023).Целью школы является привлечение талантливой молодёжи к научным исследованиям в области фундаментальной физики, знакомство её с основными проблемами, идеями и методами исследования современной теории гравитации и космологии.

The purpose of the School is to encourage gifted young people to participate in research in the field of fundamental physics and to familiarize them with the main problems, ideas and methods of investigation employed in contemporary theory of gravitation and cosmology.

The opening ceremony featured presentations by the following luminaries: Mohammad Sami, Head of the School, Professor of the Center for Cosmology and Science Popularization of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary (SGT) University, India; Vladimir Gladyshev, co-Head of the School, Dean of the FN Faculty of BMSTU; Dmitry Galtsov, Professor, Lomonosov Moscow State University; Mishra Bivudutta, Professor, Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (India); Vladimir Lipunov, Professor, Sternberg Astronomical Institute, Lomonosov Moscow State University; Innocenzo M. Pinto, Emeritus Professor, University of Naples Federico II.

The scientific curriculum of the School comprises lectures by 26 researchers from 6 countries (Russia, Brazil, Egypt, India, Italy, the USA), while over 201 people (over 35 young researchers, over 30 postgraduate students, over 90 senior students) from 13 countries (Russia, Israel, Iran, India, Egypt, Ecuador, Bangladesh, Algeria, Eritrea, Syria, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kazakhstan) registered as students of the School.
