International Conference "Mathematical Modeling, Computational Methods and Engineering Software"

December 11th-12th, 2023

BMSTU, Moscow, Russia

Modern science and industry cannot advance without continual refinement of mathematical modeling techniques and development of engineering software. Powerful software packages, designed to run on a range of hardware including supercomputers and developed by commercial companies, universities and independent researchers, have found widespread application in engineering analysis of structures, processes and systems, which facilitated a novel paradigm of engineering design based on detailed 3D modeling of physical processes underlying the functioning of engineering structures in operation. In turn, this transition further increased interest in developing mathematical models describing materials, structures, processes and systems using the fundamental laws of mechanics, physics and chemistry in general formulations, without introducing any substantial approximations formerly dictated by the limitations of older numerical methods and computational resources.

The MCE-2023 international conference is meant to promote discussion of the matters outlined above, supplemented by numerous other issues concerning existing trends in the advancement of mathematical modeling and numerical methods as well as in the development and application of engineering software, including supercomputer-driven simulation.

In 2023 Bauman Moscow State Technical University together with Russian Academy of Science and BITS-Pilani University for the first time will organize the International scientific conference "Space. Time. Civilization. STC-2023", which will be held in Egypt from 3 to 8 November. The conference will focus on the theory and experiment in the field of gravitation, the study of the properties of astrophysical objects and large-scale structures of the Universe, and the relationship between the development of natural sciences and sustainable Civilization development. The STC-2023 Conference is a logical extension of the Finsler Extensions of Relativity Theory (FERT) international forums (http://hypercomplex.info/section.php?lang=en&genre=102), as well as the Physical Interpretations of Relativity Theory (PIRT) international scientific conferences (https://pirt.bmstu.ru/en/).

Three concurrent sections are planned for the conference:

· Space and Time.

· Civilization Issues.

· The Origins of Civilization.

Between July 3rd and July 6th, 2023, the Bauman Moscow State Technical University held the 23rd International Scientific Conference on Modern Problems of the Relativity Theory, Cosmology and Astrophysics, known as "Physical Interpretations of the Relativity Theory: PIRT-2023".

The PIRT conference is an international scientific event originating in 1988, first held biennially at Imperial College London and later, since 2003, at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.

The Chairman of the International Organizing Committee is Mikhail Gordin, Rector of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, while the Co-Chairman is Professor Vladimir Gladyshev, Head of Scientific Educational Complex of Fundamental Sciences. The Chairman of the International Academic Committee is Alexey Starobinsky, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The 23rd PIRT conference primarily aimed to discuss the following topics: modern generalizations of the relativity theory and its observed consequences; experimental verification of the relativity theory; methods for gravitational wave recording; effects of relativistic electrodynamics and optics in moving media; astrophysical observations and space-based experiments.

The conference program focused on the latest achievements in the theory of gravity, cosmology and astrophysics, which attracted over 150 researchers from 27 countries. Over 60 participants from 5 countries gave their presentations in the conference hall of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University; other participants and listeners attended the conference remotely via Zoom. An extensive cultural program was arranged for the conference attendees.

Bauman Moscow State Technical University is holding a conference on Gravity, Cosmology and Astrophysics on July 3-6, 2023

The 5G Academy brings together the University of Naples Federico II, Nokia and TIM with the aim of training new highly professional figures in the field of 'digital transformation', with specific reference to the revolutionary potential of 5G.

The Academy will start in February 2023, will end at the end of September and it’s completely free of charge. The educational activities will involve a commitment of 5 days a week and will be carried out both in blended learning with virtual lessons on the platform and in person, compatibly with the provisions on safety (COVID-19), at the Technological Pole of San Giovanni a Teduccio of the University of Naples Federico II.

Participants will acquire technical, management and sector consulting skills, contributing to the development of specific and innovative business cases. Furthermore, the course will support the development of their digital mindset and business spirit.

This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky, the founder of aerodynamics. In this regard, the BMSTU delegation visited the Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo, a village in the Vladimir Region.

Nikolay Yegorovich cherished the memory of his manor and the School. He received home education and at the age of 11 left for Moscow to get further education. Being a high school student and then a student, every holiday he came back to Orekhovo. During his half-a-century work at the Imperial Technical School, every year Nikolay Zhukovsky wrote an application to the rector with the following words: “I ask you to grant me a leave because I am leaving for Orekhovo.”

Many years have passed but the Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo is still closely related to Bauman Moscow State Technical University, especially to the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, which bears the name of Nikolay Zhukovsky. The Manor often hosts students of this department and arranges excursions.
