Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo

This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Nikolay Yegorovich Zhukovsky, the founder of aerodynamics. In this regard, the BMSTU delegation visited the Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo, a village in the Vladimir Region.

Nikolay Yegorovich cherished the memory of his manor and the School. He received home education and at the age of 11 left for Moscow to get further education. Being a high school student and then a student, every holiday he came back to Orekhovo. During his half-a-century work at the Imperial Technical School, every year Nikolay Zhukovsky wrote an application to the rector with the following words: “I ask you to grant me a leave because I am leaving for Orekhovo.”

Many years have passed but the Zhukovsky Manor in Orekhovo is still closely related to Bauman Moscow State Technical University, especially to the Department of Theoretical Mechanics, which bears the name of Nikolay Zhukovsky. The Manor often hosts students of this department and arranges excursions.

On July 4 - 9, 2022, 3rd Summer International School on Gravity, Cosmology and Astrophysics (ISGCA-2022), dedicated to the memory of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.I. Pustovoyt, was held at Bauman Moscow State Technical University at the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences.

More than 260 students and young scientists from 21 countries (Benin, China, Bangaldesh, Greece, Denmark, Egypt, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia, Syria, Tajikistan, Croatia, Ecuador, Eritrea) submitted their applications to participate in the School.  ISGCA-2022 welcomed both in-person and virtual participants, on the 8th floor of the BMSTU Laboratory Building and in Zoom. All lectures and reports were simultaneously interpreted. More than 30 students from Bauman University and other leading Russian universities came to take part in the School. Each participant of the School received an international certificate.

The Faculty of Fundamental Sciences, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, is arranging the 3rd Summer International School on Gravity, Cosmology and Astrophysics for students, post-graduates and young scientists. The School will be held in the Educational and Laboratory Building of Bauman Moscow State Technical University on July 4-9, 2022.

The School is dedicated to the memory of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladislav Ivanovich Pustovoyt.

The main goals of the School are to discuss modern accomplishments in studying the Universe, tackle the main problems, share ideas and methods of research in the theory of gravity and cosmology. The School will become an event where prominent researchers from different countries will get together to present their projects and share their knowledge on gravity, cosmology and astrophysics.

The workshop topic: Topological isotopy and Cochran's invariants of links

The report will be given by Melikhov Sergey Aleksandrovich (Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences)

Abstract: We show that there exists a 2-component link in the 3-space that is not isotopic (i.e. not homotopic through embeddings) to any smooth (or piecewise linear) link. The proof is unusually visual and is based on Cochran's invariants. The similar question for 1-component links, that is, knots is a well-known problem of Rolfsen (1974) which remains open. We will also discuss what else is known about isotopy and about Cochran's invariants.

The details are available in https://arxiv.org/abs/2011.01409

Title: Invariants for virtual marked graphs and virtual surface-links

Sang-Youl Lee, Pusan National University, Korea.

pm 15:35(UTC+3), 11 May 2018, Friday, classroom 922, Educational & Laboratory Building of BMSTU.

Abstract: In this talk, I would like to introduce a notion of virtual marked graphs and their equivalence and then define polynomial invariants for virtual marked graphs using invariants for virtual links. We also formulate a way how to define the ideal coset invariants for virtual surface-links using the polynomial invariants for virtual marked graphs. Examining this theory with the Kauffman bracket polynomial, we establish a natural extension of the Kauffman bracket polynomial to virtual marked graphs and found the ideal coset invariant for virtual surface-links using the extended Kauffman bracket polynomial.
We also discuss the groups of virtual marked graphs and virtual surface-links if the time is enough.

ITMO University together with the English Language Office of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow invites you to join the second International Conference in ESP "More than ESP: Empowering Students to Progress" in  April 4-6, 2018

The Conference is devoted to the vital issue of adapting ESP teaching methods to today's student profile. Participants will discuss contemporary trends in ESP, as well as available ESP teaching methods. 25+ hands-on workshops and sessions will provide a valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge in dealing with multiple challenges of teaching English to students of various majors. Participation in the Conference will be especially beneficial for university teachers and professors teaching English in non-linguistic institutions.

On February 13, 2018 Bauman Moscow State Technical University and Lomonosov Moscow State University held a joint meeting of the Academic Councils in the hall of the Academic Council of the Fundamental Library of Moscow State University.

The meeting was devoted to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the agreement on the Universities' fraternity.

Such joint meetings are held every 5 years and traditionally the reсtors Viktor A. Sadovnichiy and Anatoliy A. Aleksandrov make their reports at the opening ceremony.

25 years ago the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences of Bauman Moscow State Technical University, represented by Boris P. Nazarenko, the Dean of the Faculty in 1990-2011, offered an idea to enter in such an agreement, and since that time the joint meetings have been regularly held.

The laboratory is specializing in theoretical and experimental study into establishing the gravitational wave source and receiver. We develop new methods for  registration of gravitational radiation and perform mathematical modeling of multiple-beam Fabry-Perot, Mach-Zehnder, Michelson interferometers with  mirrors on free weights.

The major areas of research include gravitation and cosmology, relativistic electrodynamics, multiple-beam interferometry, spectroscopy, nanotechnology, cryogenic and vacuum technology.

Gravitational Wave Research Laboratory carries out theoretical and experimental research in several departments of the University (at Physics Department, at Photonics Center, at Center for Nanotechnology, at Space Center Bauman University).

Laboratory of Moving Media Electrodynamics

The laboratory has centered on theoretical and experimental study of non-linear processes of interaction between electromagnetic radiation and moving media and its connection to the reason, which gives rise to anisotropy of relict microwave radiation. The connection can appear in some experiments of optics of moving media which can change orientation in 3D space.

Investigation results in the field of moving media electrodynamics are presented. The results are connected with problems of interferometric detection of gravitational waves, first attempts of optical detection of anisotropy for space-time continuum and up to the idea of creating a time machine in the anisotropic space.

The laboratory is the organizer of the  International Meeting «Physical Interpretations of Relativity Theory»

Remote Sensing Laboratory

The Remote Sensing Laboratory was established in 1981. The main focus of its work was the research in the field of receiving microwave images for various objects on a background of the surface with the help of mm wave radiometers.

Some years ago the laboratory began a series of studies on applying a subsurface radar in recording the images of objects located at the shallow depth in building constructions and other opaque media. As a result of the research, the method of continuous wave multi-frequency sensing for the condensed medium was developed.

On the basis of the developed method we designed a holographic subsurface radar RASCAN and put it into production. It is intended for sensing the building designs with high resolution. A group of the laboratory researchers, who developed the RASCAN radar, are Russian Federation Government prizewinners in the field of science and technology. The RASCAN radar has found its place in the market of Russia and abroad.
